This printer supports Borderless printing.

Product Specifications for the HP ENVY 5020 All-in-One Printer (M2U91B)

Borderless printing
Yes (up to 8.5 x 11 in, 216 x 297 mm)

Borderless is likely supported on limited paper types, for example, Photo and Brochure

Normally, a printer that supports Borderless printing would support this option on 4x6 inch Photo paper .

Borderless is an option - and not required.

There are several factors that could impact your results, including

  1. Shape and size of photo (height / width) compared to shape and size of paper
  2. The software / application you are using
  3. The settings you apply to the job

For example,

HP Smart Windows can be used to print borderless - or Not.

If you select to Not print borderless,

If the shape of the original photo file does not exactly fit the shape of the paper,

If you select Scaling = "Shrink to Fit" as opposed to Scaling = "Crop" in the main print settings page,

The photo will be placed onto the Preview / Paper to "fit" within the paper.

The margins might be uneven or other than expected.

In general, at least, the photo should / would be centered on the paper as best can be done based on the shape/size of the image file.
