When printing from Word and Excel I cannot customise margins or formats and also prints a 'report' page for every page printed, when printing downloads each print is correct and no report page prints. This has only happened when using my new Lenovo PC running Windows 10. No such problems on my old Dell PC running Windows 7. Same printer on both PC's. Any advice welcome.

There are SO many printers in the world.

Many of these are HP printers.

The following answer is necessarily general - it should help answer your questions.

That you have other computers on which the printer works means there is printer software for the printer.

==============================================================================

What about that report that prints after each Word / Office job?

For example,

The Summary might be the result of your setting.

Prevent Word document printout from also printing document report

in Word > File > Options > Display

Under section Printing options

Clear the box (un-check) next to Print document properties

Click OK to save changes

=====================================================================

What about that printer software?

Installation – Full Feature Software

Important Notes

  1. Full Feature Software might have been moved to subcategory Software-Utility and / or might now be called  Print and Scan Driver and Accessories
  2. If you use Easy Start to install the software:  When asked, opt for "Full software and drivers" (exact wording might vary).

Basics

  • Download-and-Save the Full Feature Software / Print and Scan Driver and Accessories or HP Easy Start Printer Setup for your Operating System version.
  • Open File Explorer
  • Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file  (likely Downloads)
  • Right-Click on the installation package and “Run as Administrator
  • Reminder:  If using Easy Start, select the Full Driver
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

NOTES

If using USB, disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer before starting the installation.  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (toward the end of the installation procedure).

Both the HP Smart Application and the Full Feature Software can be installed on the same computer – when available, the Full Feature Software should be installed first (and the computer should be restarted).

Hi

The Word - File - Options - Display - Print Document properties box was ticked, I unticked it also in Advanced - Print - Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11 paper size box was ticked, unticked and all OK cleared my problems.

Many thanks

Ah, thanks for posting back.

I've seen this before (which is why it was suggested) - but I have yet to understand what is triggering the "default" setting to end up other than expected.  Maybe I'll take another look at a fresh Office installation.

No matter - it is enough that it is fixed.  Smiling.

Stay Safe - and Warm!
