HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw is configured as a network printer. When trying to print, every document errors and stays in the queue. The print queue has the updated printer driver. And, the printer's firmware is updated. I tried different drivers and receive the same issue. If configure the printer on the local computer utilizing the same driver, the printer job works. We have multiple printers setup on this printer server with no issues. |

Hi @Tony-ADA,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw is having issues printing over the network while it works when configured locally, here are several troubleshooting steps to try:
1. Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
- Verify the printer’s IP address by printing a configuration page directly from the printer and ensure it matches what’s set in the printer settings on your computer.
2. Remove and Re-add the Printer:
- Go to Devices and Printers in the Control Panel.
- Right-click on the printer and select Remove Device.
- Then, add the printer again using the IP address:
- Click Add a printer, select The printer that I want isn't listed, and choose Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
3. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can automatically diagnose and fix common printing issues.
4. Check Printer Spooler Service:
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Find Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart.
- After restarting, try printing again.
5. Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings:
- Ensure that your firewall or antivirus is not blocking the print jobs. You may need to create exceptions for the printer or temporarily disable the firewall to test.
6. Review Printer Properties:
- Right-click on the printer in Devices and Printers, select Printer properties, and ensure that the correct port is selected (typically a standard TCP/IP port).
7. Update Network Drivers:
- Ensure your computer’s network drivers are up to date. Go to Device Manager, expand Network adapters, right-click your network device, and select Update driver.
8. Test with Another Device:
- Try printing from another computer on the same network to see if the issue is specific to your device or the printer itself.
9. Check for Error Messages:
- Check the printer's display for any error messages or alerts that might provide insight into the problem.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
