HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428dw

I have an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428dw printer and an Apple computer with MacOS 15.15 (ie the latest). After an automatic update of the HP printer driver software the printer doesn't work. I thus need to download an old HP printer driver software (ie dowgrade). I have tried, but the ones I have downloaded are identified as corrupt by the computer which doesn't allow installation. Please help.

The Nov 12, 2024 update was to the installation script

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

You must have upgraded to macOS 15.x just recently

if you did an in-place upgrade to 15.x then the old drivers are still there. Go to printers and scanners and the "-" to remove the M428. Then have Mac search for a printer. It should find the printer on your network and then look for the existing driver and find it.

If the drivers are missing and the above update does not work, then you need to edit the install script as described by jtashman here

try that zip file.

Secure AirPrint may need to be enabled as discussed here
Let me know what you find out.

Sorry, I don't understand how to do what jtashman suggests. I have downloaded the zip-file: "HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers" but when I open that, it is converted from .dmg to .pkg and when double-clicking on the .pkg file I get a message the 'update' requires a macOS 15.0 or earlier. I understand that jtashman describes how to work around this, but I don't understand what to do. Sorry.

I hear you, but I cannot find anything here at HP about the 15.1.1,  All I can find is discussion over at Apple about the problem and from what I read it affects all printers.  If your printer is under warranty you can ask for warranty support.  I recommend you post over at the Apple forum and inform them of the problem.  Possibly HP will eventually come up with an update but the new OS came from Apple, not HP.

You are not the only one with the 15.1.1 problem.  if you get a solution please post back here to let us know.
