HP LaserJet 1018 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer a laser jet 1018 requires the full installation software before it can be recognized as a printer. The get installer link leads me to "Page cannot be displayed" No I am not hijacked, it is a valid HP page. The computer a win 10 64 bit recognizes the printer as other device.

Hi @MrTJW,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble installing the full software for your HP LaserJet 1018 printer on Windows 10 64-bit, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue.

  1. Use Windows Update:

    • Connect your printer to the computer and turn it on.
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Click on "Check for updates" and let Windows search for the latest drivers.
  2. Download Drivers from HP Website:

    • Go to the official HP support website: https://support.hp.com.
    • Enter your printer model (LaserJet 1018) and navigate to the Drivers section.
    • Download the latest full feature software and drivers designed for Windows 10 64-bit.
  3. Uninstall Previous Installations:

    • Ensure any previous installations or attempts are removed. You can do this by going to "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features" and uninstalling any existing HP printer software.
  4. Disconnect and Reconnect the Printer:

    • Disconnect the printer from the computer.
    • Reboot your computer.
    • Reconnect the printer and turn it on.
  5. Install Using Compatibility Mode:

    • Right-click on the downloaded installer file and select "Properties."
    • Go to the "Compatibility" tab.
    • Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select a previous version of Windows that is compatible with the driver.
    • Click "Apply" and then "OK."
    • Run the installer again.
  6. Manually Add the Printer:

    • Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners."
    • Click on "Add a printer or scanner" and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • When prompted, select your printer and install the drivers.
  7. Use Windows Troubleshooter:

    • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
    • Run the Printer troubleshooter.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
