Hi @Jpx1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Finding compatible drivers for older hardware like the HP Photosmart 7660 printer can sometimes be challenging. Here are some options to try.
- HP Support Website: Start by visiting the official HP support website and search for drivers for the Photosmart 7660 printer. Sometimes, even though the printer is old, HP still maintains a repository of drivers for legacy devices.
- Windows Update: Sometimes, Windows Update might automatically detect and install drivers for older devices. Connect your printer to your computer and check for updates through the Windows Update utility.
- Compatibility Mode: If you have a driver that's designed for an older version of Windows (e.g., Windows XP), you can try installing it in compatibility mode. Right-click on the driver executable file, go to Properties, then Compatibility, and choose an earlier version of Windows.
- Universal Printer Drivers: Some universal printer drivers might work with your Photosmart 7660. These drivers are designed to work with a wide range of printers. Look for universal printer drivers from reputable sources.
- Virtual Machines: If you have access to a virtual machine, you can install an older operating system (like Windows XP) within the VM and then install the printer driver within that virtual environment.
Remember, when downloading drivers from the internet, be cautious and make sure to download from reputable sources to avoid malware or other security risks.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
