1)  You need "ARM" software ONLY if your computer is running an ARM processor.

Settings → Scroll down and open System → About → Device Info

2)  If you can get it to install, the full driver printer software includes HP Scan.

and / or

3)  If you wish (must) bypass installing the full driver, Install the HP Universal Scan Software.

4)  If you wish to do so, install the HP Smart Universal Printing Driver

The HP Universal Scan Software includes a “not-broken” Scan > Save as JPEG > Page Size = Detect Photos.

Depending on the HP Scan software that is part of the full driver, the Page Size = Detect Photos might be missing.  The Page Size = Detect Content for Scanning PDF is OK (works).

5)  HP App is the replacement for HP Smart.  Ask if you need additional information to install / use.

The Offline Use Only, Print and Scan Driver, or similarly named installation webpacks can be used in either a network‑connected or USB‑connected environment.

The name of the installation file depends on the printer model and the type of packaging.

This method includes the printer software in the installation package -- no questions about which driver / software to select and install.

Using USB?

Be sure to unplug the USB cable between the printer and the computer before loading the software. 

Re-connect the USB cable when instructed to do so, generally near the end of the successful installation of the printer software.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.
