HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I noticed in my Windows Devices and Printers there is now something called HP Smart Printing . I have never had this show up and I sure did not install this nor did I ask HP to install it. This is nothing but bloatware and a repetition of what I already have with my HP Envy Photo 7155 device and my HP Smart App. Come on HP you have got to stop putting this c**p on peoples computers  like Microsoft does. I would like to know how to get rid of this as I have tried deleting it from my Devices and Printers and from my settings and removing it from my device list but every time I restart my computer or boot up my computer this shows right back up like a virus. HP put it there so HP should know how to remove it. What is the point of installing HP Smart if this is there. Please tell me how to get this off of my computer as I do not want it and did not ask for it.

Thank you

HP Smart Printing is a print driver that provides a newer GUI (user interface).

The driver eliminates "conflict errors" by helping you to manage which options are compatible during job setup.

(then)

The driver should quietly in Devices and Printers and not impact your printing tasks.

Thank you so very much for your prompt reply and detailed knowledge and instruction which I have done. I am not going to use the HP Smart Printing but continue with my HP Smart App and also my HP Support Assistant if needed. I sincerely hope that HP sees the redundancy in this HP Smart Printing and either sends out an optional update to uninstall and  remove it or send out instructions on how to remove it from our computers. I have never had any trouble with any printing or scanning jobs with my HP Printer and HP Smart. Would you stress to the Devs to do something about this and I think you will agree that it is nothing more than bloatware when one uses HP Smart that does the very same thing and much more?

Respectfully,

Don

Updates - Minor structure edits

You are welcome.

I get it.

Sometimes the answer is simply not in our control -- this is one of those times.

The solution is to set HP Smart Printing so it stays out of your way and (then) not use it.

Sure - "Just ignore it" is not always a popular solution.  We do hear about that.

Our Community is not a direct channel to HP Support, Sales, or any internal HP Development teams.

That said, consider your message received -- while HP does not maintain an official presence in the Community, HP people and programs glean important information -- trends and opinions -- from all our interactions.

Personally, from a training and ease of use perspective, I think HP Smart Printing answers a need -- the GUI is more like those in mobile devices (or could be, at least), job option management is (can be) simpler from the user's point of view (no more odd "conflict" errors), and the interface works with traditional software programs and HP Smart, too.

That said, I don't intend to persuade anyone to like what they do not want.

I am a fan of choice.

Happy Printing.

None of this advice applies to me.  I already have Windows set so that it does not control my default printer.  If I remove the HP Smart Printer I did not ask for, it just comes back.  If I change the default printer, HP decides I need their Smart Printing thing and makes them selves my default printer.

This bloatware is not making anything easier.  I now have spent the first 30 minutes of my morning trying to regain control of my comupter.

HP Recommended

If you are like me and you just use the HP Smart app to scan, but you want name your own default printer, I have found you can just go to services.msc, and stop and disable the HP Print Scan Doctor Service.  You can still scan with the HP Smart app and you (not HP) will be in charge of where/how you print.
