Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently I purchased a used Brother MFC-490CW printer to use with my hp desktop computer.  I tried to scan a document, but nothing happened.  I downloaded a "Full driver and software package".  When I try to install it, I receive an error message:  "An error occurred during the installation.  Please restart your PC..."  I went through this cycle numerous times and I continue to receive the same message.  Why does the Full driver and software package not install?

Thanks in advance to whoever is able to assist me in this perplexing situation.

Welcome to the HP Community --

The computer itself is just hardware -- beyond the requirements for the installed components, the computer is not aware of the Operating System, the network, or the devices you attach to the computer or network.  That just means this is not an computer brand issue.

Your best option is to go to Brother Printer Support and pursue whatever is available for this printer model.

What else?

Though less likely to provide a printer driver related answer, you can check with Microsoft (Community) for general advice about  what to do when software does not load.

Look to your router logs -- if the router is aware of a problem, you can sometimes find information in the logs.
