Hi there,
Been trying to sort an issue whereby my HP Office Jet Pro 8020 goes offline (Needing a reboot).
I used HP Supp Assistant to diagnose & fix the issue, which said it made some updates to correct. I then noticed copies of the printer in Settings : e.g. HP 5830DD, HP 5830DD (Copy 1), Scan Only HP 5830- (Do not Delete).
Can anyone suggest why please? I couldn't find a similar question, so hope I'm not repeating what's gone before.
Kind Regards, PK.

The driver has been installed multiple times. You can delete those copies if you wish.
Having multiple copies of the same printer is actually a feature that is useful on occasion but can be confusing when setting up a new printer or diagnosing problems.
The printer is probably going to sleep and when it wakes up it may be getting a different IP address than it had. Your PC cannot communicate with it anymore. A quick fix is to set the sleep to off or never. Access the printers embedded web page and set sleep to off or never.

If the printer keeps changing its IP address then a change to the modem is necessary. The printer needs to be assigned a fixed IP address that is reserved and does not change. This is necessary on flex networks (multiple Wi-Fi booster / repeaters)
Let me know if you have a flex system (WiFi boosters or repeaters) as the setup is much more complicated.

Thanks for your input. I think I understand your comment...however I won't be able to try in a hurry owing to other commitments. Also, I need to see if the updates applied by the fix has made any difference.
As Arnie said...I'll be back.
Cheers, PK.

Thanks BeemerBiker. That pic looks useful.
I did go to the EWS page and looked through the categories/settings but couldn't see a SLEEP param. I'll have another go now that you've send a great screen shot.
I did scare myself, as after clicking on a setting (unsure which it was) I got a display 'NGINX' . I logged out PDQ thinking it was a hack, but NGINX is a load balancer used by Netflix amongst others. Unsure why I saw that.
I also found that SCAN hadn't been set up, though I have scanned docs. A bit of a project I think, to investigate.
I'm using an Officejet Pro 8020...don't know if that affects what EWS parameters are present?
Thanks again for your troubles.
Rgds, PK.

Hi Beemer,
I did find a checked field for 'sleep', but it didn't seem to be able to be 'unchecked', so have left it. I have noticed that the printer has been picking up ok when I've gone to print so maybe the fix did work? It did say something about changes being made having run the diags tool.
Thanks for your help.
Kind Regards,
PK.
