Every once in a while the program goes off track. I wind up reinstalling everything and waste a good part of my day fixing things that should be very simple.... First the scanner does not want to work/ or it does not know of its existence, Strange...

For something so simple it mind blowing. Oh yes I have a printer/scanner that has been working for a long time but there is no longer tec service as they don't want to deal with old reliable product. So what does that mean??? You have to buy a new product every 3 years... That's horse hockey..... Maybe it's time to switch to al alternative....  yes I'm bother by this companies philosophy and way of thinking...

It can be frustrating when your HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer's scanner stops working unexpectedly. Here are a few troubleshooting steps to help resolve this issue:

1. Restart Devices:

  • Restart your computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Restart your printer: Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

2. Update Drivers:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer, either via USB or Wi-Fi.

4. Use HP Smart App:

  • Install the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store. This app can help manage your printer settings and troubleshoot issues.

5. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows. This tool can automatically diagnose and fix printer and scanner issues.

6. Check Windows Services:

  • Ensure that the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running. You can check this by pressing Windows Key + R, typing services.msc, and pressing Enter. Find the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service and ensure it is running.

7. Reinstall Printer Software:

  • If issues persist, consider uninstalling the current printer software and reinstalling it. Follow these steps:
    • Open the Control Panel and go to "Programs and Features."
    • Find your printer software, select it, and click "Uninstall."
    • Restart your computer after uninstallation.
    • Reinstall the latest version of the printer software from the HP website.
