Why would you charge a weekly fee to print on an already purchased printer?

I downloaded the smart app and every time i want to print ANYTHING it asks me to pay weekly fee or start the 3 day trial

THERE IS NO WAY AROUND IT ON THE APP (Android)
Yearly it charges 34.99 or "only" USD0.67 cents per week
Weekly is $5.99 per week
the free trial only allows for the weekly fee to be paid after the trial but this is daylight ROBBERY
why would you sell a product and not disclose all the details prior to selling. Im in Nicaragua so I can't do anything but lick my wounds and wallet for losing money. Completely dissatisfied and betrayed by a brand I have used for most of my life.

HP Smart used to be an option for supported mobile devices --

At this writing, HP Smart is still available in Windows -- it too will be replaced at some point.

The HP mobile print and scan app has been replaced with the HP App.

The only legitimate place to obtain the app is from HP.

Use of the HP App is free.

HP does not charge for its software and drivers.

Instant Ink is an Optional service contract -- it is not mandatory that you have a subscription.

• Your Mobile device (tablet, phone) must be on the same network as the printer.
• On that mobile device, Location Services and Bluetooth should both be switched ON

-- Be Aware –

Any HP application you install should be sourced from “HP”.

What?  Fakes have been discovered on at least one Mobile App Store –

Check who is providing the application >> “HP Inc.”

If you can’t tell, ask or use the Homepage method (if using Windows) to download and install the HP Smart application.
