We have our copier set up so that anyone can access and print to it. But the prefix in the Wi-Fi Direct name (DIRECT-a6-HP) is not very intuitive, and is so long that many devices' screens will not display the whole name, so regardless of what we name it, a person's device may not even SEE that name on their portable device's screen. Unfortunately, the web settings menu does not let you change this prefix, only what comes after it.
Is there some way (even unofficially) to change the prefix that is used, that you CANNOT change in the web settings menu?
And if not, is there some comparable model that DOES allow you to change the WHOLE name for Wi-Fi Direct, and not just the suffix of the name?

No,
With any HP printer, you can only change the printer name, the prefix would always be DIRECT-xx-HP [printer model] for newer printers with HP Wi-Fi Direct, or HP-Print-xx-[printer model] for older models with HP Wireless Direct, this cannot be changed in any way, for any HP printer.

Shlomi

This seems a little short-sighted. Why wouldn't they want people to change the WHOLE name? even if they just prefixed it with "HP" it should be enough to know it was an HP product, and it would still leave enough room for my custom name to fit.
Why do they have to go and make everybody follow some silly naming scheme? What then is the point of customization?
