HP Envy 5055
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have reinstalled the software, and tried to set up my HP Envy printer.  It launches my scan app, but I am unable to set up the printer app on my laptop.  I have uninstalled, re-installed the app.  I can print from my phone, but i can not set the printer on my laptop as my default printer.  I downloaded the driver, and software.

Are there any other suggestions so I can printer from my laptop?

Greetings!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, you are trying to set the printer as a default printer.

Appreciate you trying the steps. Don't worry, I'm here to help!

Let's try these steps -

To choose a default printer, select the Start button and then Settings. Go to Devices > Printers & Scanners > select a printer > Manage. Then select Set as default. If you have Let Windows manage my default printer selected, you'll need to deselect it before you can choose a default printer on your own.

If the issue still persists, try these steps to re-install the printer driver from the root level -

2) Look for HP Printer software.
3) Right-click to uninstall.
4) In the search box, type and open “Devices and printers”.
5) In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.
6) Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).
8) Click on the "Drivers" tab.
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.
10) Select Ok.
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.
12) Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.
13) Restart the computer.
14) Download and install the software and drivers from here.

Hope this helps!

Let me know how that goes.

I went in and did all of the steps that were sent to me.  My Printer will not work wirelessly.  I cannot set it as my default, and it says that "my driver has not been installed."  I have deleted, and re-installed but it still does not recognize the printer as the driver is not installed uet.  The only way I can print is by connecting the usb to the computer.  Very poor design if it does not re-install properly,   I am not impressed with the printer at this point, would not give it a good review.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
