Dell 14" laptop running Win 11 Home and OfficeJet 9025. Windows 10 Pro HP desktop prints and scans to this printer with no problems. Win 11 Dell adds printer with no problem but says "driver unavailable" directly underneath the printer name and the Printer does not appear in Device Manager under Print Spooler. Have tried several of the drivers loaded directly from the HP website. Have removed and added the printer several times, each removal followed by a printer shut down/restart and laptop reboot or shutdown/restart. Have cleaned the registry. Am fully current on all Windows and driver updates. Have run all the troubleshooters I can find. Have tried to add it as a new printer using WPS password. Have tried to add it manually by using IP address. Nothing works. I've wasted more than four hours and cannot contact HP directly.

I could be doing something wrong, but I rarely am unable to solve problems on my own!!!!!

It drives me nuts that when I really need support from the MFG these days, I cannot get it without paying lots of money to them, especially as I face the bankruptcy of the latest company I co-founded!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I’m sorry to hear about the frustration you’re facing. You’ve clearly done a lot already, and I appreciate your persistence. Let’s walk through a few targeted steps that have helped others resolve similar issues with the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 on Windows 11.

Uninstall Previous HP Software and Devices

  • Press Windows + R, type control, and hit Enter.
  • Go to Programs > Programs and Features and uninstall any HP software related to OfficeJet 9025.
  • Then go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click the printer, and select Remove device.

Download and Install the Full Feature Software

  • Visit the official HP driver page for your printer:
    HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 Drivers
  • Download the Full Feature Software and Driver package.
  • Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions. This package includes everything needed for printing and scanning.

Manually Add the Printer via IP Address

If the printer is on the same network:

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Click Add a printer or scanner.
  • If it doesn’t appear, click “The printer I want isn’t listed”.
  • Choose Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname.
  • Enter the printer’s IP (you can find it on the printer’s touchscreen under Wi-Fi settings).

Disable USB Selective Suspend (if using USB)

  • Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
  • Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting and disable it for both battery and plugged in.

Check BIOS/UEFI USB Settings

  • Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually F2, F10, or Del).
  • Ensure USB ports and legacy support are enabled.

Try HP Smart App (Alternative Setup)

  • Download from Microsoft Store. HP Smart
  • It can detect and install your printer wirelessly or via USB.

Final Option: Use Windows Built-in Driver

  • Go to Devices and Printers > Add Printer.
  • Choose Add a local printer > Use existing port (e.g., USB001).
  • Select HP from the manufacturer list and try HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 Series or HP Universal Print Driver

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
