Went to print a document yesterday morning in Microsoft Office and got the message 'unexpected configuration problem 0x80004005. PC no longer sees the printer - either as USB connection or wireless. Have gone through all the troubleshooting but not working. Re-downloaded all the drivers from HP support. My husband's MAC can still see the printer and printer via our home network. When I look on the network, it shows the printer on his computer but says status unavailable. Seems to be a problem with the driver....

The printer is showing on the network now, and my husband can use it remotely from his MAC. I was able to connect via USB over the weekend following these instructions. To be honest I don't want to try to use the wireless option as I can't afford for it to cause another issue. Happy to stick with the USB for local, and have it on the network.

I suggest you uninstall the printer drivers from root level and download the full feature software
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

Welcome to HP support community.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity
Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
-
Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
-
Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
-
If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
-
If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
-
-
If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
-
If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.
-
Try to print.
Assign manual IP address and that should fix the issue.
1. From the printer control panel display, touch and slide your finger across the screen and then touch Setup.
2. Touch Print Reports and then touch Network Configuration Page.
Setting a Static IP Address
Once you know your printer’s IP address, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:
- Run your Web browser.
- In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
- Click the Networking tab.
- Under Connections, click Wireless.
- Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
- Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
- Click Apply.
