Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂
Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums. I understand that you have an HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer and are unable to install it on your Win10 computer as the drivers appear to be unavailable. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Are you trying to connect the printer wirelessly or via USB?
- Are you trying to install the drivers from the disk or from the HP website?
NOTE: If you're going to connect the printer via USB, then do not connect it initially. Begin the installation first and later there will be a prompt to connect the printer. That's when you may connect the printer.
Meanwhile, I did some research and found that the drivers for Win10 are available at the HP website. You may download and install the full featured drivers from this link.
If the issue persists then I suggest to uninstall any existing printer drivers from the root level. The following steps will help:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- You may download and install the drivers from the link provided above.
I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.Feel free to keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂

Having the same issue with my printer. Fax works but nothing else. I've unistalled the drivers from the root and installed from the website but same problem. I've tried wireless, ethernet, and USB and same problem. I can not get it to connect to my computer. I have turned my Firewall off, connected other HP printers (they work on the computer with no problem) yet nothing. PLEASE HELP.

I have been trying to get my HP Envy 7640 printer to work properly for about a month. This soloution worked!! Thanks so much. I was getting errors: unable to connect over network, drivers not available and scan was not working properly (would not scan to computer only to hp scan) .
