OfficeJet Pro 8715
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Officejet Pro Printer 8715 configured and running as a Network printer.  I have Windows 7 and 10 computers able to print in color to it except one.  This single computer stopped being able to print in color to this printer since I upgraded it from Windows 7 Pro to 10 Pro. This computer can print in color to my other Officejet Pro 8620 networked printer.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling 8715 / 8710 drivers with not luck.  It just prints in black & white & shades of gray.  What's odd is that the print driver and print properties screen doesn't even list Photo printing as an option for the 8715 while it does for the 8620.  The other computers on the network that have no issue DO List PHOTO PRINTING on the 8715 as an option.  Weird.  In the meantime, I'm doing a Windows update to see if that helps.

Hi,

Try following below specific version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting your printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Be sure to restart your PC and allow the utility to complete the process, then check for any difference.

Try printing and check for any change, if the same remains try printing using the newly added print queue copy (Copy1) and check for any difference.

So the printer issue was resolved as a result of following your instructions.  Yeah! But I now have two subsequent items to resolve.  The first is that "Scan to Computer" from the 8715 Printer LCD touch screen does not work any longer.  This could have been since I was uninstalling and reinstalling over the last few days.  What do you recommend I do to get this working without regressing the progress we just made? And secondly, I now have a printer named "Scan Only -HP8715 (HP Officejet Pro 8710) - DO NOT DELETE".  What do I do with this?  I think were are almost there.

Hi Sam,

For the 'Scan Only -HP8715 (HP Officejet Pro 8710) - DO NOT DELETE' instance, simply ignore it and ensure the other copy of the printer is set as default, this is part of the steps taken by the utility to resolve the printing problem, by creating 2 separate virtual print queues for the printer and the scanner.

For the Scan to PC problem, let's try the following:

Open the HP Officejet Pro 8710 software and select Scan, click on Manage Scan to Computer.

Uncheck the bottom box to start this process with Windows. then click the Disable button above (it may hang for a moment or two, this is expected), till this window closes

Allow 60 seconds and then click on Manage Scan to Computer again and check the bottom box back on, then press the Enable button and check if you may now see any difference.
