HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182nw
Microsoft Windows 11

I have 25H2 and the HP LaserJet MFP M182 no longer prints. It worked before the automatic update, but does not now. Now HP wants me to spend money with their tech support when what we need is MS/HP to be sure they don't break things when updating. It is my belief we need a new driver update from HP, but I have no way to contacting a real person there to let them know this issue. I have downloaded the most recent driver package and HP SMART App, both can see the printer and communicate with it, but not able to install it as a printer in Windows 11 25H2. Frustrating considering we did nothing to cause this issue.

Hi @FrustrdPerson,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP LaserJet MFP M182 stopped printing after upgrading to Windows 11 25H2, even though the printer is detected by HP Smart and the latest drivers. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check printer status in Windows

Go to Settings → Devices → Printers & Scanners and ensure the M182 shows as Ready.

Remove any duplicate or “Offline” instances of the printer.

Reinstall the printer driver completely

Uninstall the M182 driver from Settings → Printers & Scanners → Remove device.

Open Device Manager → Print queues and remove any leftover entries.

Reboot your PC, then install the latest full feature driver from HP’s website, not just the HP Smart app.

Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to detect and fix issues automatically.

This tool can reset Windows printing settings and resolve compatibility problems with 25H2.

Check Windows print spooler

Press Windows + R → type services.msc → Enter.

Locate Print Spooler, right-click → Restart.

Try printing again.

Test using a different connection type

If using USB, try a different port.

If using network/Wi-Fi, try reconnecting the printer via a manual IP address instead of automatic discovery.

Verify Windows 11 25H2 compatibility

Some older printer drivers need updates to work with 25H2.

If the steps above don’t restore printing, check HP’s site for any updated 25H2-compatible driver or wait for an official patch.

I hope this helps.
