Hi @Allen105,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To find a driver for your HP DeskJet 2842e All-in-One Printer that works with Windows 7 Home Edition, follow these steps:

1. Download the Driver from HP

Visit HP Support:

  • Go to the HP Support website.

Search for Your Printer Model:

  • Enter HP DeskJet 2842e in the search bar and select your printer model from the list.

Select Operating System:

  • Choose Windows 7 from the dropdown menu for the operating system. Note that HP may not provide drivers for older models if the printer is discontinued, so check for Windows 7 compatibility.

Download Driver:

  • Find the appropriate driver and software package for your printer model. Click Download and save the file to your computer.

Install Driver:

  • Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver. Restart your computer if prompted.

2. Use Windows Update

  1. Check for Updates:
    • Go to Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update.
    • Check for updates that might include drivers for your printer. Sometimes, Windows Update can automatically find and install drivers for older hardware.

3. Use a Generic Printer Driver

If HP doesn’t offer a specific driver for Windows 7, you might be able to use a generic HP driver:

  1. Add Printer Manually:
    • Go to Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a printer.
    • Choose Add a local printer and select Use an existing port (usually USB).
    • Choose HP from the manufacturer list and select a generic HP DeskJet driver or similar from the list of models.
    • Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

4. Use a Chromebook

If you also have a Chromebook, you can print from it using Google Cloud Print or directly if your printer is compatible:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
