I'm having trouble with scanning with my Windows 11 PC with the Snapdragon processor. The full set of drivers for this printer won't install. I just get a blank screen after I input my printers Pin #. Printing is working ok using the basic Windows drivers.

Hi @KatieJ3,

Thank you for the update.

I’m really glad to hear the Universal Print Driver helped get Adobe to recognize the device, even if it’s not yet a perfect solution. You're absolutely right, the TWAIN driver does offer a much smoother and more integrated experience, especially compared to the limited Windows Scan tool.

It's great to know that at least you're now getting more manageable file sizes without the extra step of compressing in Adobe, a solid win in the meantime. And yes, fingers crossed that this becomes a non-issue in future updates!

If you're all set, please mark this post as 'Accepted Solution' so I can do a virtual happy dance!

Feel free to reach out anytime, I’ve got your six.

Hi @KatieJ3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Use HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store. This app is optimized for use with Windows 10 and 11 and supports ARM-based processors like Snapdragon.
  • After installation, try adding your printer in the HP Smart App and perform scanning tasks through the app.

Install the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This utility can diagnose and fix many common problems, including scanning issues.

Check Windows Update for Driver Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. Sometimes driver updates are provided via Windows Update.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Access your printer's settings on the control panel and check for firmware updates.

Install Basic Drivers Manually:

  • Since the full feature driver package is having issues, try finding a basic driver version on the HP support website specifically for ARM processors or use the universal print drivers.

Verify Scanner Settings:

  • Ensure that the scanner connection settings are correct in your scanning application. Check network or connection settings if using network scanning.

Use Windows Fax and Scan:

  • As a temporary solution, you can use Windows Fax and Scan which is built into Windows 11. Search for it in the Start menu and try scanning through this application.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, but I have already done all these steps. I need the 'twain' driver for a certain application (Adobe). Yes, I do use the Windows scan for basic scanning. Does HP make a printer that has the right drivers for Windows ARM64 CoPilot Processor?

Thanks for getting back to us.

It looks like HP's support for TWAIN drivers on Windows ARM64 CoPilot Snapdragon devices is still quite limited. Based on what I found, HP does provide universal print drivers for ARM-based processors, but TWAIN-specific drivers may not be available.

Possible Solutions

Check HP’s Universal Print Driver for ARM64

  • HP offers a Universal Print Driver (UPD) that may work for basic printing and scanning.
  • You can try downloading the SUPD-V4-ARM64 driver from HP’s support page.

Use Third-Party TWAIN Drivers

  • Some third-party TWAIN drivers may work with HP printers on ARM-based Windows devices.
  • You can check VueScan or TWAIN-compatible scanning software.

Please note that HP is not responsible for the accuracy, security, or reliability of information shared on third-party websites.

Since TWAIN drivers are essential for Adobe applications, you might need to explore alternative scanning software that supports ARM64.

If HP releases an official TWAIN driver for ARM-based processors, it would likely be listed on their driver support page

Let me know if you need help finding additional options! 🚀

Again, thanks for the response. It seems VueScan and others are software scanning programs and not drivers specifically that will work within Adobe itself, i.e. be recognized within the Adobe program. I'll just have to work around this issue as I have been doing until I have a different computer or a different printer. The full software package that HP has on their support page will not even install in Windows ARM64 probably due to Plug N Play not being available in this version of Windows.

@KatieJ3

It sounds like you've run into a frustrating compatibility issue with Windows ARM64 and HP's full software package.

You're absolutely right—VueScan and similar programs act as standalone scanning software rather than drivers that integrate directly into Adobe.

From what I found, Plug and Play issues on Windows ARM64 can prevent HP's full software package from installing properly. Some users have had success using HP's Smart Universal Print Driver for ARM64, which might be worth trying.

Another workaround is installing the printer manually via Windows' Add Printer Wizard, though this may not fully restore Adobe integration.

Since you're planning to work around the issue until you upgrade your computer or printer, one option could be checking if third-party drivers exist that bridge the gap between HP's hardware and ARM64 systems.

If Adobe integration is critical, you might also explore virtual machines or emulation to run the necessary drivers in a compatible environment.

Let me know if you want to dig deeper into potential fixes! I know these compatibility roadblocks can be frustrating.

Hawks Eye,

HP's universal print driver was good advice. Adobe now sees it, but only brings up the basic Windows Scanner. The Twain driver integrates much better, since the Windows Scan is too basic and cumbersome to use. Still this is the best workaround so far. At least Adobe will create a small file size now rather than the huge files Windows Scan produces, which saves me from having Adobe reduce the file size. Hopefully none of this will be an issue some day!
