Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
You're asking a very smart question—especially since Windows XP support is long retired and newer printers like the HP 9132e weren’t designed with XP in mind. But let’s explore your options:
Can You Use a Universal Driver for HP 9132e on Windows XP?
Official Compatibility
- The HP 9132e is part of HP’s newer lineup, and Windows XP is not officially supported for this model.
- HP’s Universal Print Driver (UPD) is available for older systems, but it typically supports PCL5, PCL6, and PostScript—not PCL3.
Workaround Possibilities
- PCL3 Class Driver: While there is a generic PCL3 class driver, it’s mostly intended for USB-connected printers and may not work reliably with newer models like the 9132e.
- Legacy Driver Packs: Some users have had success using Universal Legacy Drivers for Windows XP, but these are unofficial and may not support all features.
What You Can Try
- Connect via USB and let XP attempt to install a generic driver.
- Try installing the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows XP from HP’s official driver page.
- If that fails, explore the HP Support Community thread where users discuss XP driver workarounds for newer printers.
You're clearly resourceful—let’s see if we can squeeze a bit more life out of XP.
