HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I was following a guide on downloading the driver which would allow me to use my printer with a wired connection. Whenever I get to the last step the windows just freezes and nothing happens. I cannot use a wireless connection because I'm living on campus and the printer cannot connect to the type of wifi used here. When i go to check if the driver worked despite the screen freezing, nothing happens when i click print.

@random999,Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you're experiencing issues while attempting to install drivers for your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e to use with a wired connection on Windows 11, here are some steps you can follow to potentially resolve the problem:

Verify Compatibility: Ensure that you are downloading the correct driver for your operating system (Windows 11). Visit the HP Support website to find the latest drivers for your printer model.

Download and Install the Driver Again:

  • Restart your computer before attempting to reinstall the driver.
  • Download the driver from the HP support page for your printer model.
  • Run the installer as an administrator by right-clicking the installation file and selecting "Run as administrator."

Clear Temporary Files:

  • Sometimes temporary files can cause installation issues. Use the Windows Disk Cleanup tool to clear these files.

Check for Conflicting Software:

  • Ensure that any antivirus or firewall software is not interfering with the installation process. Temporarily disable them and try again.

Update Your Operating System:

  • Ensure Windows 11 is fully updated. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.

Install via USB Connection:

  • Connect your printer directly to your computer using a USB cable.
  • When prompted during the driver installation, select USB connection instead of network connection.

Resource Monitoring:

  • While installing, open the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and monitor CPU and memory usage to detect any abnormal activity that may be causing the freeze.

Check Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager and check if there are any issues under the "Printers" category. Right-click and select "Update driver" to let Windows try to find the latest version automatically.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
