Can I connect this printer to the network via ethernet cable, my university doesn't allow printers to be connected to the wi-fi

No, the printer does not support Ethernet.

Specifications > Connectivity

You might be able to make use of Wi-Fi Direct, that is, wireless without the use of a router.

If you can use it, Wi-Fi Direct uses the wireless radio on your printer to connect the printer wirelessly to your computer.

This does not connect the printer Wireless to your university wireless control.

Wi-Fi Direct, what it is and how to use it, is explained in the User Guide .

Chapter 6 - Get Started > Control Panel display icons - Page 7

Chapter 7 - Network setup - Starting on Page 46

To make sure you catch (read) all the information about the subject, search the Guide for occurances of "Wi-Fi Direct".

Hi, thanks I will try this when I can however I have another problem.

Since I turned the printer on it keeps saying that the paper draw is open but I have closed it and turned the printer on and off and it is still saying it is open when it is not so I cannot do anything on the display because the alert is there.

I don't know - You are correct, the issue is unrelated to connectivity.

If the printer thinks the drawer if open it is maybe a sensor, there is actually something stuck in the back of the drawer, drawer is broken, or perhaps the printer would respond to a power reset to untangle whatever is going on with it.

The following shows how to check for "things that are stuck" and also includes the power reset.

You might want to open a separate thread for the problem if it won't go away.
