Hello. I have a fault in my printing, which is hard to describe ! Basically, I have an enforced margin in everything I am trying to print, of about 1 cm all round. Some examples :- 1) In Powerpoint, it will not Scale To Fit Paper in Full Page Slide. 2) In Excel, I can have the margins set at zero, but a footer will appear about 1cm from the bottom. If I increase the footer from zero, it goes up the page. If I decrease the margins back to zero, it goes back to about 1cm from the bottom. 3) In Word, I can set the margins to zero, but the contents are about 1cm from the top. 4) In E-mail, the same thing. There is this margin from the top and bottom, so I miss text off the bottom, where it is hidden by this 1cm enforced margin. I don't know if this makes sense to anybody, but I would appreciate any help or advice please. I have tried troubleshooting myself, but I'm not very techincal !! 🙂

Welcome to the HP User Community.
The printer supports borderless printing:
Borderless Printing | Yes (up to 8.5 x 11 in, 216 x 297 mm) |
That said, the printer - and the printer software - might only support borderless at certain paper sizes and / or certain paper types.
Printing Preferences (software choices) impact selection - one setting might conflict with another to prevent you from having what you want.
The following is not the answer you seek - the content might help you decide where to look and whether what you want is what you can have.
For example,
Some printers only support borderless using Photo Paper or Brochure paper types.
File type might impact whether the file can be printed Borderless. For example, an image file (.JPG) printed in a supported size on supported paper might print Borderless without problems - Document formats might not do so.
Borderless is not generally compatible with Duplex printing - this, too, even in absence of other conflicts can stop a job from printing as expected.
When there is an conflict, that is, a combination is selected that the printer / printer software does not support, you will generally see a message. The message will likely include at least the primary reasons for the failure, though there might be additional issues. Correct the ones you see, try again...
Word_Print_Properties_Conflict_Borderless_1
Minimum borders on those "not borderless" jobs:
Print Margin Bottom (A4) | 3 mm |
Print Margin Left (A4) | 3 mm |
Print Margin Right (A4) | 3 mm |
Print Margin Top (A4) | 3 mm |
Margins - specifically those in Word - behave differently depending on the document structure.
Text, Image, and Standard header and footer locations can be adjusted but not beyond the minimum margins enforced by the printer.

Word – Document Scale
Trouble with labels and possibly with other documents that include mixed content types:
Document Scale
There is a setting in Word that will "scale" a document for Letter / A4 paper.
If you are having alignment issues with your document (for example, labels, bottom of page chopped), UNCHECK this setting.
When printing directly from within Word
Setup:
Word > File > Options > Advanced
In Section Print (about 2/3 of the way down)
UNCHECK "Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11" paper sizes
Click OK to save changes
=================================================
When a document is exported to PDF, the document structure is inherited by the PDF format.
Margins, for example, beyond using "Actual", "Fit", or "Shrink" (names vary) cannot be adjusted.
