Your post did not capture your Printer Model and Operating System/version.

-- Based on what we know --

The reason for the issue might be one or more of the following (and not limited to):

• The application or software you are using to print the document is not compatible with the document file type.  For example -- Windows / Mobile -- HP Smart / HP App can print Photos (Images) and PDF format files.

• The software needed to print the document(s) is not installed.   For example -- Windows -- Word and similar office type documents require that the full driver printer software be installed.

• -- Windows -- The file structure and type are supported, but Printer Properties is not using the installed HP drivers and instead is trying to use the IPP / Microsoft drivers. 

• -- Windows -- The file structure and type are supported, Printer Properties is pointed at (selected as) the HP Driver, but Printing Preferences is set to Defaults" as opposed to a Shortcut better suited to the task.

• The file is owned and controlled by "someone else" -- that is, the file permissions do not allow you to print the file.

• The file includes embedded protection against printing the content.   Government, legal, insurance, and other agencies might add protections to the file to limit what can be done with (or to) the contents.

• The file structure is corrupt or appears to be corrupt due to format, embedded content, unsupported fonts (that the printer cannot translate), or other oddities.
