I have an HP5660 printer. When I try to print a PDF file with names and phone numbers.  It will only print the titles at top of page. The names and phone numbers do not appear. Same with recipies....only the picture will print and the rest of the page is blank. The text does not appear on paper?  I can print emails no problem but it's whenever I try to print PDF files, or when I click on links to print that all the text is blank on paper although the screen shows that the text print is ready to print. I have tried everything, . Restored default settings, etc

At one time, the printer was working fine and everything printed out on paper. I'm not sure what has happened??

Any suggestions??

Hello, @Lori13 – Greetings!

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I understand that you are having issues while printing in PDF. I would like to help 🙂

First of all, I would like to know the app that you are using to open / print PDF files. Are you using “Adobe reader” or some other application?

If you are not using Adobe reader, please install Adobe reader and then try to print the PDF.

If you are already using the Adobe reader, follow the steps below:

1. Try the "Print as image" option:

  • Choose File > Print, and then click Advanced.
  • Select Print as Image.
  • Click OK to close the Advanced Print Setup dialog box, and then click OK to print.

2. Install the latest update:

  • Open Reader or Acrobat.
  • Choose Help > Check For Updates. If a new update is available, it installs automatically.
  • Once installed, restart your computer.
  • Print the PDF again.

3. Reset the printing system:

  • Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
  • Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
  • Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
  • Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
  • Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
  • Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
  • Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
  • Click the “Add button” (+).
  • Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
  • Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)

Also, please go through the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2dSDxCD

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂

Thank you for responding. In the meantime, the problem has been resolved. I  have since replaced the cartridge, installed the latest drivers and then choose air print ( instead of secure air print)  and everything seems to be good now and it is now printing text and pictures. Thank you for responding to me.
