"This feature has been locked by the person who set up the printer."

Hi @markus76

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is displaying a message that a feature has been locked by the administrator, it typically means that some settings are restricted to prevent unauthorized changes. To regain access to all features, you can try the following steps:

1. Enter Administrator Password

  • If you know the administrator password, you can enter it when prompted to unlock the features. This will give you access to the settings.

2. Factory Reset the Printer

If you do not have the password, you may need to perform a factory reset. This process will reset all settings, including any passwords. The steps can vary depending on the printer model, but here’s a general method:

For Most HP Printers:

  1. Turn Off the Printer: Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Wait: Leave it unplugged for about 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect: Plug the power cord back in.
  4. Access Control Panel: When turning the printer back on, look for the following options on the control panel:
    • Settings or Setup
    • Restore Defaults or Factory Reset
  5. Confirm the Reset: Follow the prompts to confirm the factory reset.

3. Check the User Manual

  • Refer to your printer’s user manual for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset or unlock features. The manual may have different steps for different models.

4. HP Smart App or Web Interface

  • If your printer is connected to a network, you may be able to access its settings via the HP Smart app or the printer’s embedded web server (EWS).
    • You can often find the EWS by typing the printer’s IP address into a web browser. Check under the Network Setup section for any password options.

5. Perform a Hardware Reset

  • For some printers, you can reset by holding down specific buttons while powering on. Check the manual for any such combination for your model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
