I've had this printer for years and have had this happen rarely before. I was trying to fix an issue with connecting to another device, so I uninstalled all drivers (upon advise from a pro on a message board). When I rebooted, driver for my printer didn't come back up like the rest did. Tried to reinstall the driver but keep getting the message at 99% 'Fatal Error an install operation took too long to execute' and wont continue. I've read the solutions to others who have had this issue:
Remove device
Remove driver
Uninstall device, etc
Done all of the above and tried again...and again and no better.
Please, please, please, if you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears 🙂

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand, you're unable to install the printer on your PC.
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
When was the last time it worked fine?
Were there any hardware/software changes made?
From where di you install printer drivers?
How is your printer connected to the PC (USB or Wireless)?
Let's try performing root level uninstall and reinstall:
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
To reinstall, click here.
If the issue persists, you could try troubleshooting steps from these articles:

Let me know how that pans out

After 5 long (almost 20 minutes) attempts to connect my m127fw LaserJet to a Win10 PC, I decided to abandon the most recent full software package on HP's site and pulled out the disc that came with the printer and it connected in less than a minute.
Because support from HP is often convoluted and nonsensicle at times, I do not recommend their products to my customers.
