Hello @bloop99uk, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please let me know the printer's name and the model number along with the network setup of the HP device so that I can assist you further?

Step 1: Open the Print System Dialog

  1. In Cricut Design Space, click Send to Printer.
  2. Enable “Use System Dialog” before selecting Print.
  3. Minimize the Cricut window to access your computer’s native printer settings behind it.

Step 2: Adjust Settings (Windows)

  1. Select your HP printer and open Preferences or Printer Properties.
  2. Go to the Paper/Quality or Layout tab.
  3. Locate options such as Scaling, Resize, or Layout Mode.
  4. Set scaling to Actual Size, Normal, or 100%.
  5. Turn off options like Shrink to Fit, Fit to Page, or Borderless to maintain accurate sizing.

Step 3: Adjust Settings (Mac)

  1. In the print dialog, click Show Details.
  2. From the dropdown (usually set to “Layout”), choose Paper Handling.
  3. Set scaling to 100%, or ensure Scale to fit paper size matches your selected paper (e.g., A4 or Letter).
  4. Confirm the Destination Paper Size matches your loaded paper, and enable Scale down only to prevent unintended enlargement.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thank you for the update @bloop99uk

The HP Deskjet 2290 series do not provide a manual setting to define a custom print border width (such as 1.5 cm) in the printer firmware or driver. The printable area and minimum margins are controlled by the printer's hardware and the application sending the print job.

Since you've confirmed that:

  • The printer is an HP Deskjet 2290 on a wireless connection.
  • Cricut calibration prints correctly from your phone app.
  • The issue occurs only when printing from Windows.
  • You've already tried the suggested Windows printer settings.

This points to a Windows driver/application limitation rather than a fault with the printer itself.

For Cricut calibration, you may want to:

Unfortunately, if Windows continues to alter the margins after these steps, the HP Deskjet 2920 does not offer an adjustment to force a specific 1.5 cm border around the page.

We appreciate the effort you've put into troubleshooting this, and we understand how frustrating it is when you need precise calibration for Cricut projects.

Thank you so much for the update. @bloop99uk

To reconfirm the printer that you have mentioned.

Could you please let us know if you have the Deskjet 2290 or the Deskjet 2900 series printer?

Have a great day!
