Hi @PamCol

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I know how frustrating that can be—especially with a brand-new device that should just work smoothly out of the box. Let’s walk through a few steps to get your wireless printer happily talking to your PC.

🧰 Basic Connection & Setup Check

  • Ensure Wi-Fi Signal Is Stable: Confirm both your PC and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Even a subtle mismatch can break communication.
  • Printer Status: Look at the printer’s control panel—check if it shows as "connected" or ready. If not, try reconnecting to your Wi-Fi network from the printer settings.
  • Restart Both Devices: A simple reboot of your PC and printer can clear up lingering setup glitches.

🖨️ PC-to-Printer Communication

Add Printer Again:

  1. On your PC, go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Tap Add Device, and wait for your wireless printer to appear.
  3. Select it and complete the setup prompts.

Check Print Queue:

  • Sometimes print jobs get stuck—head to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select See what's printing. Cancel any stuck jobs.

⚙️ Driver & Software Support

  • Download Latest Drivers: Visit the official support site and download the full driver and software package for your specific printer model—not just the basic print driver.
  • Firmware Update: Some new printers need a firmware update to perform reliably, which you can do via the manufacturer’s software utility.

🔍 Troubleshooting Tool

  • Run the built-in printer troubleshooter on your PC:
    1. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    2. Find Printer, run it, and follow the prompts.

Let’s see if that gets your printer behaving. If it’s still giving you the cold shoulder after these steps, I’ll gladly stick with you and try a few deeper diagnostics.

You're not alone in this—I’m here to help make sure that brand-new tech earns its keep.
