- I have always set my 8500 to print in plain paper, Fast Draft mode as a default. Until recently (not sure when) I could make that setting on a document and it would "stick" and continue to print in that mode until I changed it. (Then I would have to manually change it back.) Now I can't do it. The default is now set to Normal and if I print a doc in Fast Draft it changes back to Normal when done. Fast Draft works just fine for 90% of what I do, and it saves a lot of ink.
Something has changed, but I don't know if it was HP or Apple.

Hi,
From the print dialog change the settings as you like as Fast Draft, then press the Presets menu and save teh current settings as a preset.
Complete the print job, the used preset will remain default for any future print job till selecting another preset.

Argh. Well. checking the drop down it appears that I actually did this way back some time ago. I change the setting so seldom I had forgotten all about it. Still not sure how the setting got flipped to the "Normal" mode but all is well now. Thanks for the response.
