Hey Folks
Can someone please help me out here. This thing is driving me mad.
I have just bought a HP Officejet 3831, but cannot load the software. Whenever I try to install 'Essential Software' the below message appears before the end of instalation.
I am using a Mac OS X 10.8.5
Any suggestions are welcome.
Many thanks

Hi,
Download and install the latest essencia software for your printer below:
Once you are done open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, click the plus sign and select your printer.
Be sure to select the printer model within the Use drop down menu.
As well HP Easy Scan can be installed from below link:

I had the exact same issue for a few months and tried everything including all the steps HP suggested. The only thing that worked was creating a temporary new user profile (cannot be guest account AND must be given administrator privileges) and downloading Easy Start and installing the printer software through it.
I would also suggest disabling all anti-virus software, firewalls, ad-blocker applications etc. on this new user profile since it seems like an application is blocking some feedback verification to HP's servers and preventing the installation of the printer drivers.
You can delete the new user profile as soon as you've installed the HP software since it'll be system-wide.
