Actually, I am running macOS 11.1 Big Sur, but that was not in the list of operating systems from which to choose.
Problem, like many Apple user, is that a warning was issued by macOS that the HP software could harm the computer. I uninstalled the HP software and tried to find drivers to update the system. Cannot find any for the C4700. Had the same problem with the last update for macOS Catalina, but dumbly thought going beyond Catalina to Big Sur might fix my problem. Dead in the water.

Thanks to JackieNY I got a link to HP printer driver software. at the Apple support site. I installed it and tried to connect my printer vial USB. The printer was recognized. But, now I get a "Missing USB Class Driver," whenever I try to print.

Hi,
Try following below version of the HP Easy Start Utility:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/ASU/HP_Easy_St...
As soon as you open HP Easy Start, click the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software...
Read any warnings that display, and then click Continue. When prompted, type your administrator user name and password and follow the steps on screen.
Click Set Up New Device, and then follow the instructions to reinstall your printer with HP Easy Start and check if that may work.
If HP Easy Start cannot complete your printer installation, from the HP Easy Start menu select Preferences.
Click on HP Easy Start.log and the log folder will launch, please reply me back via a Private Message with the log content attached, please clarify if you may not able to access private messaging.

Did as you recommended. Easy Install could not locate "software options for this product" (I assume drivers for the C4700). I clicked on your link to send you a private message with the log attached, but could not see a way to create or send a message from the screen in the link. I have never sent a private message, so this is new to me.
