Hi @Theo6968

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is no longer connecting to Wi-Fi after a firmware update, here are some detailed steps you can take to resolve the issue:

1. Restart Printer and Router

  • Power cycle both your printer and router.
  • Turn off the printer, unplug it for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
  • Restart your router by turning it off, waiting for 30 seconds, and then turning it back on.
  • This helps reset any potential network communication issues between the printer and router.

2. Check Wi-Fi Network

  • Make sure your printer is within the Wi-Fi range and there are no obstacles interfering with the signal.
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is operating normally and other devices can connect to it without issue.

3. Reconfigure Wireless Setup

  • Factory reset: If you haven't done so recently, you may want to perform a factory reset on the printer. Here’s how:
    • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Network Settings. This will reset the Wi-Fi configuration.
    • Once the network settings are reset, use the Wi-Fi setup wizard on the printer’s display to reconnect it to the Wi-Fi network. You can do this by selecting Wireless > Settings > Wi-Fi Setup Wizard and following the prompts.

4. Reinstall HP Printer Software and Drivers

  • Sometimes, the firmware update might disrupt the printer's communication with your computer. Reinstalling the printer software on your computer can resolve this:
    • Uninstall the existing HP drivers from your computer via the Control Panel (for Windows) or System Preferences (for Mac).
    • Download and install the latest version of the HP Easy Start utility from the HP website.
    • Run the software and follow the steps to reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.

5. Check Firmware Version

  • After a firmware update, it's possible that the update may have caused a compatibility issue with your router or Wi-Fi network.
  • Check your printer’s firmware version by printing a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s settings and verifying it matches the latest version. If it's the most recent update, check if others are experiencing similar issues by searching HP forums or contacting HP Support.

6. Disable Router’s 5GHz Band (if applicable)

  • Some routers use both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. If your router is set to 5GHz only, your printer may not be able to connect because the printer may not support that frequency.
    • If possible, try disabling the 5GHz band temporarily or ensure that the printer is connecting to the 2.4GHz band (most printers, including the HP8710, typically support 2.4GHz).
    • You can do this by logging into your router’s settings and looking for the Wi-Fi configuration options.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
