@Laurao7,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP printer is having trouble connecting to WiFi due to an issue with your Mac. Here are some steps to troubleshoot.

Restart Everything

  • Power off your printer, Mac, and WiFi router for about 2 minutes and then turn them back on.

Check WiFi Connection

  • Make sure your Mac is connected to the correct WiFi network.
  • If you have a dual-band router (2.4GHz and 5GHz), try connecting your Mac and printer to 2.4GHz (many HP printers don’t work well with 5GHz).

Re-add the Printer on Mac

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners (or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners on older macOS).
  2. Select your HP printer, then click Remove (-).
  3. Click Add (+), wait for the printer to appear, and select it.
  4. Choose AirPrint (if available) or HP drivers and click Add.

Reset Printer’s Network Settings

If your printer is still not connecting, reset its network settings:

  • For most HP printers: Press & hold the WiFi button for 5-10 seconds until the light blinks.
  • For touchscreen models: Go to Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.

Reconnect the Printer to WiFi

Using HP Smart App:

  1. Download HP Smart from the App Store.
  2. Open the app and select Set Up a New Printer.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to reconnect the printer to WiFi.

Manual WiFi Setup:

  1. On your printer, go to Wireless or Network Settings.
  2. Select WiFi Setup Wizard and connect to your network.
  3. Enter the WiFi password manually.

Check for Mac-Specific Issues

If the printer connects but won’t print, reset the Mac’s printing system:

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose Reset Printing System.
  3. Re-add the printer.

If you're getting a "No route to host" or "Cannot connect" error, check the Mac’s firewall settings:

  1. Go to System Settings > Network > Firewall.
  2. Disable the firewall temporarily and try to print.
  3. If it works, add an exception for the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
