HP Envy 5055
Microsoft Windows XP

I am trying to install an HP Envy 5055 on a work computer that is running Windows XP Professional SP2.  This computer is not, and cannot be connected to the internet. The whole reason this printer was purchased is that the HP website said it was compatible with Windows XP.

I have the printer connected to the computer via a usb cable. I have downloaded both the full feature software pack and the basic drivers. I put both files onto a usb drive so I could use it on the computer,  and in both cases the computer still says that it cant install the hardware. It recognizes that the Envy is there, but it cant install the drivers.

I used winrar to unpack the exe files onto the usb drive and then tried to tell the install wizard where the drivers were at. It was then humorously able to install the scanner feature that i dont need but it still failed to install the print drivers.

All I need is for it to print. Is there some way to get a driver installed so that it will work?

Hi,

This printer drivers are not supported for Windows XP, Please see the link below of printer specs

you can try plug and play and if it shows as unknown device or printer icon with a yellow exclamation mark then just click on update drivers, add printer driver wizard will come up, next select manufacturer as HP and on your right hand side , select any one of the driver deskjet 990c or deskjet 6980. hope this helps.

Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Thanks so much. This actually worked. I was able to manually install it using the HP deskjet 990c drivers.
