Hello, following the last firmware update, the Eprint service and the web service have been disabled from my printer.

Everything was working fine but HP considered my printer to be too old, obsolete and by the last update to disable these services. After contacting support, I was told to buy another one and there was no way to reactivate it (or that they don't want to reactivate it).

Someone will not have a trick to reactivate this by erasing the last update or or some other solution?

Thank you for your help

@VINCENT27, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

There is no option to downgrade the printer firmware. Have you tried turning on the web services and check?

Refer to this document to know how to turn it on.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Kumar, I believe Vincent (and a number of posters who started similar threads within a few days of this one) are experiencing what I'm experiencing.

The support document has a stage where it mentions removing and then re-enabling Web Services. When we try that, we are suddenly unable to rejoin Web Services. It just generates an error message, and offers two options: enter a proxy (don't know what that is, and it doesn't tell me) or retry.

Dead end. Can you help?

Thanks.

Me I had the proposal of the support of "HP" 20% reduction on the purchase of another printer. The problem is that the updates are obligatory and we do not know how to deactivate them so there will still have other users who are going to have the problem. "PROGRAMMED OBSOLESCENCE"

If you have tried to enable web services and it did not help, refer to - Cannot Connect to Web Services. This document also tells you about the proxy settings.

Let me know how it goes.

Have tried that document before, and tried it again this time, just to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

I've confirmed there's no proxy involved, yet neither through my printer's touchpad nor through the Smart portal will Web Services re-enable.

Kumar, is there any chance Vincent's original post was correct, and that the issue is a firmware update (specifically, a firmware update that makes the 8600 OfficeJet Pro no longer compatible with Web Services)?

Thanks.

@Soulchump

No, the firmware update could not have caused this issue. The updates are not made to remove a feature from the printer. It is designed to fix any bugs or add features.

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region for further assistance/service options.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

i can assure you that my problem happened right after the update and the tech support woman confirmed to me that my printer was too old and i needed to buy another one and it was giving me 20% off for change . I have another much newer HP printer and the web service is working so it's good to show you that after a certain date HP removes certain functions to force people to change printers.
