HP Officejet J4580 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a Windows 11 laptop, I tried to connect the printer to the computer in order to print, and the printer is not recognized in the device manager, it says that a suitable driver for the device was not found by the system, my computer is updated with the latest update. I need the installation file for the printer to work on my laptop. (HP's website does not have the software - they refer to Windows Live Updates)

Hi @eladsegev,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer (OfficeJet J4580) is not recognized by the Device Manager, it indicates that your computer is not detecting the printer properly. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

1. Check physical connections: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via a USB cable or a network connection, depending on your setup. Make sure the connections are secure and not loose.

2. Restart both devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix communication issues between the printer and the computer. Restart your computer and the printer, and then check if the Device Manager recognizes the printer.

3. Install or update drivers: Visit the official website of HP (the manufacturer of OfficeJet J4580) and download the latest drivers and software for your printer model. Install the drivers on your computer, following the provided instructions. This will ensure that your computer has the necessary software to recognize the printer.

4. Check USB ports and cables: If you're using a USB connection, try connecting the printer to a different USB port on your computer. Also, try using a different USB cable to rule out any cable-related issues.

5. Enable Plug and Play: Make sure the "Plug and Play" feature is enabled on your computer. This feature allows your computer to automatically detect and install new hardware. To enable it, follow these steps.

  • Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type "services.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter.
  • In the Services window, scroll down and find "Plug and Play".
  • Double-click on "Plug and Play" to open its properties.
  • In the properties window, ensure that the "Startup type" is set to "Automatic".
  • If the service is not running, click on the "Start" button.
  • Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.

6. Try a different computer: If possible, connect the printer to a different computer and check if it is recognized. This will help determine if the issue lies with the printer or your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
