Hi @Pokefan,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
You don’t have to uninstall the old HP OfficeJet 8020 before installing the new one, especially if you're just replacing the same model, but it’s definitely a good idea to do a clean uninstall to avoid any driver conflicts or software confusion.
Here’s how to uninstall your old 8020 smoothly:
If You're on Windows:
Unplug the old printer (USB or power off if it's wireless).
Open Control Panel → go to Devices and Printers.
Right-click your HP OfficeJet 8020 → click Remove device.
Now go to Settings → Apps → Find anything that says HP OfficeJet 8020 or HP Smart → Click Uninstall.
Press Windows + R, type printui /s /t2, and hit Enter.
This opens the printer driver list.
Look for HP OfficeJet 8020 series driver and remove it if listed.
If You're on macOS:
Go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners.
Select the HP 8020 printer → click the minus (-) to remove it.
Then, open Finder → Go to Applications → Delete any HP printer software folders.
Optionally, go to:
~/Library/Printers
~/Library/Application Support/HP
And delete HP-related files (only if you’re comfortable doing so).
Now, To Install Your New HP 8020:
Go to https://123.hp.com and type in 8020.
Download HP Smart and follow the setup process for your new printer.
Connect via Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet as per your preference.
I hope this helps.
