Hi @clanchief007,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your wife's Lenovo laptop does not show the option for double-sided printing when she prints, while you have that option available on your PC, it typically indicates a configuration difference in how the printer driver is set up on each device. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
1. Check Printer Settings on Lenovo Laptop
Open Print Dialog: Have your wife open the document she wants to print on her Lenovo laptop and go to the print dialog.
Printer Selection: Ensure that she selects the correct printer (the one that supports duplex printing) from the list of available printers.
Printer Preferences: Once the printer is selected, there should be a button or link for "Printer Properties" or "Printer Preferences". Click on it.
Paper/Finishing Tab: Look for a tab named something similar to "Paper" or "Finishing". This is where the duplex (double-sided) printing options are usually found.
Set Duplex Printing: In the Printer Preferences dialog, find the option for duplex printing. It may be labeled as "Print on Both Sides", "Duplex Printing", or similar. Ensure that it is set to "Automatic" or "Enabled".
Save Settings: After adjusting the duplex printing settings, click "OK" or "Apply" to save the changes.
2. Update Printer Drivers
Check for Updates: Make sure that the printer drivers on the Lenovo laptop are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with printing options.
Download Latest Drivers: Visit the printer manufacturer's website (e.g., HP, Canon, Epson) and download the latest drivers for your specific printer model. Install them on the Lenovo laptop.
3. Use System Settings
Windows Settings: On the Lenovo laptop, go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners". Find your printer and click "Manage". Ensure that "Allow printing on both sides" or a similar option is enabled.
Mac Settings: On macOS, go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners". Select your printer, click "Options & Supplies", and ensure that "Duplex Printing Unit" is installed and selected.
4. Check Printer Capabilities
- Verify Printer Model: Ensure that the printer connected to your network or shared between devices supports duplex printing. Some older or basic models may not have this feature.
5. Printer Firmware
- Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can add new features or resolve printing issues.
6. Restart Devices
- Restart Printer and Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart of both the printer and the Lenovo laptop can resolve connectivity or configuration issues.
7. Consult Printer Documentation
- User Manual: Refer to the printer's user manual or online documentation for specific instructions on enabling duplex printing and troubleshooting printing options.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
