The control panel shows my HP6830 printer as installed. However an error tells me my printer driver is missing. How do I download the correct driver?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP forum.

Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for Win8.1 :

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-6830-e-all-in-one-printer-series/53...

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

Hope that helps.

Many thanks. That was the ticket. However, I'm curious about how this came about:

My 6830 HP printer had been working fine on my laptop. Before leaving on a 4 month trip I shut down the printer, disconected the usb connection & shut down the laptop. While away I reconnected my laptop to another HP printer at the site I was staying at.

Returning home I connected my HP 6830 printer to the laptop, again via a USB connection. The printer went through a sucessful setup/initialization. HOWEVER, the 6830 was no longer listed as a device when I checked the control panel.

Any idea why this would have occured?

Again many thanks for your help.

Hi,

Glad to hear that your issue is resolved and all is working well now.

Not sure why your printer is not listed after you came back home, might or might not be an OS issue.

Have a nice day!
