I have a Laser Jet Enterprise MFP M528 printer and I am getting an error code of 49.38.OC.   Is there anyone who can assist me.  I searched the error code and it says the printer needs to be updated but I don't know how to do this.

The first step is to disconnect the printer from any network and restart it to check will the printer boots to Ready. You might have a print job stuck on a network that is causing 49 error.

I did what you said and it is still giving me the error so does this mean I have bigger issues?

Next step is to run a cold reset. Keep the printer disconnected from network for now.

I followed the directions and when it gets to Hardware 2 it throws the error message up.  Any advise?

Thank you so much for your assistance and time it is greatly appreciated.

Partial clean of disk would be next step:

  1. Turn the printer ON .
  2. Press the HP logo that displays in the middle of the screen when you see the “1/8” under the logo.
  3. Press the Down arrow button to highlight Administrator, and then press the OK button.
  4. Press the Down arrow button to highlight Partial Clean, and then press the OK button.
  5. Press the OK button again.
  6. Press the Back button once to highlight Continue, and then press the OK button.
