I have forgotten the admin password to access the admin web page and the configuration menu on the printer control panel. How do I reset to factory? To be clear, this is the admin password NOT the wireless password.

Hi @Ramjet69,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to reset the admin password for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182nw requires performing a factory reset. This will restore the printer to its original factory settings, including clearing the admin password. Follow these steps:
Perform a Factory Reset
Access the Control Panel Menu:
- On the printer's control panel, press the Setup button (gear icon) to access the settings menu.
Navigate to Service Menu:
- Use the arrow buttons to scroll to Service and press OK.
Enter Reset Options:
- Scroll to Restore Defaults and press OK. The printer will prompt you to confirm.
Confirm Reset:
- Select Yes to confirm the reset. The printer will restart and restore factory settings.
Reset Through a USB Connection (Optional)
If the control panel option doesn't work or the printer is unresponsive, you can reset the printer using the HP Printer Utility on a computer:
- Download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP Support website.
- Connect the printer to your computer via USB.
- Open the tool and follow on-screen instructions to perform a reset.
After the Reset
- Reconfigure the printer settings as needed, including setting up Wi-Fi and re-enabling Web Services.
- Log in to the Embedded Web Server (EWS) using the default credentials:
- Username: admin
- Password: Leave blank or use admin.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
