I have an HP 8020 all-in-one printer and I am trying to update my driver and I have tried from the printer and from my phone. The message I receive is "cannot be downloaded."  I am working on a Mac with OS Ventura 13.5 and this version was not available to choose from in your options window. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi @LotusLynn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I can provide you with some general steps to troubleshoot and update the driver for your HP 8020 all-in-one printer on your Mac with OS Ventura 13.5, even if that specific OS version is not listed.

Check HP's Official Website:

  • Go to HP's official website (https://support.hp.com/).
  • Look for the "Support" or "Drivers" section.
  • Enter your printer model (HP 8020) and the operating system (OS Ventura 13.5) if available. If not, you can try selecting the closest available OS version.

Download the Driver Manually:

  • If the HP website does not have a specific driver for OS Ventura 13.5, try selecting the nearest available OS version. Drivers for similar macOS versions can sometimes work.
  • Download the driver and follow the installation instructions.

Use Apple Software Update:

  • On macOS, sometimes Apple provides drivers for popular printers through their Software Update utility.
  • Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the "+" button to add your printer.
  • If your printer is listed, select it, and macOS may automatically download and install the necessary driver.

Check for System Updates:

  • Ensure your macOS Ventura 13.5 is up-to-date. Sometimes, system updates can include driver updates.
  • Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Software Update and install any pending updates.

Alternative Connection Methods:

  • If you're trying to update the driver from your phone, consider using a computer to perform the driver update. Phone-based updates might have limitations.

Check Compatibility:

  • Ensure that your HP 8020 printer is compatible with macOS Ventura 13.5. Some older printers may not have drivers available for the latest macOS versions.

Remember to disconnect and reconnect your printer to your Mac after installing or updating the driver. I

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

Thank you for trying, however your solution suggestions were not applicable to my MacBook Air and printer. I was not able to implement any suggestions as the detailed instructions do not match what I am able to complete on my end. It is frustrating. After this amount of time, it appears that the download has either stopped trying or it just decided to work on its own.  Also, I always keep my operating system up to date, so that was not an issue.

Thank you again.

Kind Regards,

Lynn D.
