Hi @Offtrail,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're having trouble installing the driver for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183fw on Windows 11. If the driver file isn't being recognized or executed properly, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Verify the Driver File: Ensure that the driver file you downloaded is compatible with Windows 11 and specifically for your printer model. Check HP's official website for the latest driver version.

Download from HP's Official Site:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Enter your printer model (HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183fw) in the search box.
  • Download the latest driver for Windows 11.

Run as Administrator:

  • Right-click on the driver file and select "Run as administrator." This can sometimes help with installation issues.

Check Compatibility Mode:

  • Right-click on the driver file.
  • Select "Properties."
  • Go to the "Compatibility" tab.
  • Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose an earlier version of Windows if applicable.

Uninstall Old Drivers:

  • Open "Control Panel."
  • Go to "Programs and Features."
  • Look for any old HP printer drivers and uninstall them before attempting to install the new driver.

Install Using Windows Printer Setup:

  • Connect the printer to your PC using a USB cable or ensure it's connected to the same network.
  • Open "Settings" in Windows 11.
  • Go to "Devices" > "Printers & scanners."
  • Click "Add a printer or scanner."
  • Windows should automatically search for and install the correct drivers.

Use HP Smart: HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
  • Open the app and follow the prompts to add and set up your printer.
