HTC desire 610

Hello - I'm new to Wireless printing and can't print yet.

I"m getting a "this printer is not available right now" message on my smartphone when I try to print from it (an HTC desire 610, running android 4.4.2) to my new Tango X. The printer is connected to the phone - I downloaded the HP smart print app, the printer is recognized, and HP print service is shown as "on".

I turned on and off all devices (including router) several times to no avail. Also moved all devices closer together. My router says "xfinity/technicolor". My phone is 3 years old. I need a new one anyway, so could that solve my problem?

thanks for any other help.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  1. To use your printer on a wireless network, you need the following items:

    • A compatible computer or mobile device connected to your wireless network

    • Internet access

  2. Make sure the router and computer or mobile device are turned on.

  3. Make sure the computer or mobile device is connected to the same wireless network to which you want to connect the printer.

  4. Set up the printer, load paper into the input tray, and install the ink cartridges. For more information about setting up the printer, go to First Time Printer Setup.

  5. Turn on the printer and place it close to the computer and within range of the router during the setup procedure.

Use the HP Smart app to connect the printer to your wireless network from computer with Windows 10 or macOS, or an Android or Apple mobile device.

Use HP Smart to connect the printer to your wireless network.

  1. On your Android device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled.

NOTE: Allow Bluetooth and location permissions, if prompted.
  2. Download and install HP Smart from 123.hp.com.

  3. On the back of the printer, press and hold the Wireless button  for 5 seconds.

    The Edge lighting flashes blue.

NOTE: You must complete the network setup within two hours.
  4. On your Android mobile device, open HP Smart, and then tap the Plus sign.

  5. Tap Add Printer.

A list of available printers displays.

  6. Tap your printer. The printer name contains 'Setup' and the model number, such as HP-Setup<1F_Tango_X.

  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to type the WEP or WPA key (network password).

If you do not know your network password, go to Find Your Wireless WEP, WPA, WPA2 Password.

  8. After the printer connects to your wireless network, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.

This is the best advice I have had. Thanks and I am now printing!  A few key details I had left out, like pressing the wifi button on the back of the printer.

I spent almost 2hrs on the phone with HP chat today - a guy commanded my Mac and finally told me I must have a network problem. He was nice but not focused on simple instructions like these.  So....your reply was a godsend.

thanks again, aldri49
