Hi @NAN1974,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
For older printers like the HP LaserJet P1006, finding drivers can be a bit tricky, especially if HP no longer officially supports them. However, you can try the following steps to install your printer.
Visit the HP Support Website:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Enter "HP LaserJet P1006" in the search bar.
- Navigate to the “Drivers & Downloads” section.
Use Compatibility Mode:
- If drivers are no longer available directly from HP, you might find them through other sources or archives.
- Check if HP has released a universal print driver that supports your printer model. Sometimes, these drivers can work with older printers.
Windows Update:
- Windows Update might have a compatible driver. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
- In the "Add a Printer" wizard, Windows may automatically find and install a generic driver for your P1006.
Manually Install a Generic Driver:
- If you can't find the exact driver, you can try using a generic HP LaserJet driver.
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer.
- Choose “The printer that I want isn't listed.”
- Select “Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.”
- Choose “HP” as the manufacturer and select a generic HP LaserJet driver from the list.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
