Hi @Margig,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To uninstall a printer driver and install a new one, follow these general steps.

  • Disconnect the printer: Ensure that the printer is disconnected from your computer before proceeding with the uninstallation process.
  • Open "Devices and Printers" settings: Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box. Type "control printers" and press Enter. This will open the "Devices and Printers" settings window.
  • Locate your printer: In the "Devices and Printers" window, find the printer you want to uninstall. Right-click on the printer and select "Remove device" or "Delete" from the context menu. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the removal.
  • Open "Device Manager": Press the Windows key + X on your keyboard and select "Device Manager" from the menu that appears. Alternatively, you can search for "Device Manager" in the Start menu.
  • Expand the "Print queues" category: In the Device Manager window, locate and expand the "Print queues" category by clicking on the arrow next to it.
  • Uninstall the printer driver: Right-click on the printer driver associated with your printer and select "Uninstall device" from the context menu. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the uninstallation process.
  • Download and install the new printer driver: Visit the website of your printer manufacturer and navigate to the "Support" or "Downloads" section. Locate the appropriate driver for your printer model and download it to your computer. Once downloaded, run the driver installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the new driver.
  • Connect the printer: After the new driver is installed, connect your printer to the computer using the provided USB cable or via a network connection, depending on your printer type.
  • Test the printer: Once the printer is connected, you can test it by printing a test page or performing a print job to ensure that the installation was successful.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
