Hi @isaack2,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to connect your HP DeskJet 2300 All-in-One Printer to a Windows 8 laptop, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the Printer
- Unbox and Set Up: Ensure your printer is unboxed, set up, and powered on.
- Install Cartridges: Insert the ink cartridges and load paper into the input tray.
2. Install Printer Software
Download Software:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Search for “HP DeskJet 2300” and select your printer model.
- Download the latest driver and software package for Windows 8.
Run the Installer:
- Open the downloaded file and run the installer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the necessary drivers and software.
3. Connect the Printer to Your Laptop
Via USB:
- Connect the printer to your laptop using a USB cable.
- Windows 8 should automatically detect the printer and complete the installation.
Via Wireless (if supported):
- If your printer supports wireless connectivity, you will need to connect it to your WiFi network first.
- Follow the printer’s control panel instructions to connect to your WiFi network.
- On your laptop, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a printer.
- Select “Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer” and follow the prompts to complete the setup.
4. Verify Installation
- Print a Test Page:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP DeskJet 2300 printer and select Printer properties.
- Click on Print Test Page to ensure the printer is working correctly.
